VIDEO SERVICES AT 2023 ROCKHAMPTON EISTEDDFOD

The Rockhampton Eisteddfod Association has recently been notified by Frank and Lyn Spanjer, operators of Peregrine Video, that they are unable to provide video services for the 2023 Rockhampton Eisteddfod because of their ill-health.

Since receiving this notification, the Management Committee of the Association, has carried out extensive online searches, made numerous telephone calls, sent many emails etc in an effort to locate a suitable substitute provider. Those efforts have been unsuccessful. Given the length and diversity of the Eisteddfod, none of those contacted were able/willing to provide their services over what amounts to approximately five weeks of competition. Some providers that were contacted were only interested in/able to provide partial services that focussed on some, but not all, of the key sections that make up the total of our Eisteddfod in Rockhampton. We formed the opinion that to contract video services for some parts of the Eisteddfod while unable to provide the same service to all sections was unfair and inequitable. We have a very long and proud history of being a community celebrating all forms of the performing arts across the board and in a united manner, as opposed to being a specialised festival celebrating only one, or some, such arts over a shorter time span.

Given the situation that has been outlined, we regret to advise you that for 2023’s Eisteddfod

NO VIDEO SERVICES WILL BE PROVIDED

We realise this decision will create an inevitable degree of disappointment for competitors, their families and teachers. For a situation brought about by circumstances beyond our control, we hope the decision will be received with your understanding. We also undertake to continue our efforts to find a substitute provider of video services across the full gamut of the Eisteddfod in advance of the 2024 Eisteddfod.

We need also to alert you to the fact that regardless of the lack of video services this year, the same restrictions and limitations concerning the use of cameras and recording equipment will be enforced within all Eisteddfod venues, with the same consequences of being excluded from the venue should you be detected attempting to record a performance in any form. This is a matter of Queensland State Government legislation which, as organisers of the Eisteddfod we are mandatorily required to follow.

Thank you.
Les Killion
President
on behalf of Rockhampton Eisteddfod Association Inc Management Committee

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR DANCE COMPETITORS, TEACHERS AND FAMILIES

MUSIC UPLOADS

As was the case in 2022, we will again be using Music Uploads for all Dance music and adjudicator critiques in 2023.

Music Uploads system is now able to accept your uploads for the 2023 Rockhampton Eisteddfod. You can search for your entry number below using your name.

If you already have an up-to-date Music Uploads account you should be able to transfer any current music across to the Rockhampton Eisteddfod competition, noting that there is a small charge for this service by Music Uploads. Competitors should check with their teachers that the music currently held in Music Uploads is what will be used for 2023 routines, and, of course, that music for new routines is uploaded once teachers have finalised this for 2023.

In the Music Upload system please make use of the ‘comments’ feature where you are able to upload related details for your item – for example, the title of your demi-character, the nationality of your national dance etc. For teachers, and also those competing in Championship sections, this feature can also be used to indicate the use of curtains at the beginning and end of group items and Championship solo items.

For those who have not previously used Music Uploads you will need to open a Music Uploads account by going to musicuploads.com.au

Whether you are new to Music Uploads or have used it in previous competitions, YOU ARE ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING THAT THE CORRECT MUSIC HAS BEEN UPLOADED. The Rockhampton Eisteddfod Association takes no responsibility if incorrect music has been uploaded.

PLEASE NOTE THAT MUSIC UPLOADS WILL BE THE ONLY MEANS BY WHICH MUSIC CAN BE PLAYED FOR THE DANCE SECTION OF THE 2023 ROCKHAMPTON EISTEDDFOD. NO PROVISIONS WILL BE MADE FOR PLAYING MUSIC BY ANY OTHER MEANS. COMPETITORS WHO DO NOT HAVE THEIR MUSIC LOADED CORRECTLY AND CHECKED IN THE MUSIC UPLOADS SYSTEM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM COMPETING IN THAT SECTION OF THE COMPETITION.
